Case Studies
Metal Recycling System
SYSCON designed the electrical drawings in EPLAN, built the control panel, terminated and tested all cables, wrote the software and SCADA system and commissioned the project. All on time and within budget.
Siemens S7-1500 PLC, 15″ Unified Comfort HMI, G120c Variable Speed Drives and LV Switchgear and motor control.
Load Cell – (Weighing)
As we were involved in the concept stage, we were able to recommend a system of load cells and 24 VDC zero pressure accumulation (ZPA) system that we had had previous experience of which significantly reduced the design stage.
Interroll MultiControl controllers with 8 stations.
Each tote indexes independently to the robot outfeed. When a desired preset weight of product is reached, it is moved onto the gravity conveyor before allowing the next empty tote in.
Allows production to continue, unmanned, through the night.
The Simple Things
Our customer asked us to build a prototype control panel that would actuate a pump to inflate/deflate a curtain around lorry doors in a docking bay.
Upon approval, we fulfilled a repeat order of 64 of these units over 3 phases that were rolled out at logistics centres nationwide.
Covid Temperature Check
Due to the current Covid-19 situation, we were asked to design a traffic light entry system for Goods In/Out and Staff/Visitors entrance incorporating temperature monitoring and mask detection.
For the visitors and employees entrance we installed a semi-automatic people traffic management system. For the security system the staff managed foot flow manually.
‘Eggsact’ Automation
Our customer, a leading manufacture of stainless steel food processing equipment approached us to build a system which we then went on to install in an egg grading facility during a period of extensive growth.
The system utilised the Siemens ET200s distributed I/O system on a profinet network.
A Siemens Comfort touchscreen was incorporated due to its enhanced graphics and user interface.
We fully commissioned the project offsite to minimise production disruption
Trace Heating Control
We provided these panels to a local trace heating company that had received a last minute order and were able to turn them around in four days from the initial enquiry.
Four independent circuits switch on a supply to self regulating trace heating cable.
Wine Not Automate It?
Wine Distribution Warehouse. Working with a national conveyor sections manufacturer, we designed, built, installed and commissioned the controls for a 350 metre conveyor system over three floors.
Utilising both conventional 3 phase motors and the 24VDC Interroll system and a combination of powered and gravity fed conveyors.
Zonal backup photocells to prevent congestion.
We dismantled, re-installed and commissioned at a later date when the Logistics company changed premises and required significant modifications which included the addition of some simple logic.
